bush won. ew. how depressing.
i don't like kerry or bush. i was rooting for nader. (yeah, like he stood a chance). but i preferred kerry over bush.
i was watching television a few days before the election, and a camera was at a university in the south asking random students why they liked bush. and all of 'em said something along the lines of, "he's a good person, and he stands for good christian morals." i think that really ticked me off. that has freaking nothing to do with being a good president. if you like bush cuz he has good policies......fine. but voting for him just on the basis that he's a christian? i think that's crap. i mean, go bush for being a born-again christian. and go bush for making his religion a big part of his life. (and that's not sarcasm). but that doesn't make you a good president.
and it's not like kerry is an immoral bastard. bush just talks about his religion more, and that's how he's identified. bush is more involved with christianity than kerry is with catholicism. it just bugs me when people say "well, at least bush has morals." kerry's not the devil incarnate. he didn't make his religion a major part of his campaign, and religion isn't as big in his life as it is in bush's.
people between the ages of 18 and 24 voted overwhelmingly democrat. and of the people eligible to vote in that age group, waaaaaaay less than half turned out to vote. vargas told us the exact percent, but i forgot. smart me, i know. but if people would just VOTE then kerry could have won. it bugs me when people don't vote. my mom almost didn't vote one year cuz she was too tired. but i guilted her into it. go me.
i hate this war. and i hate the bush administration for linking the war in Iraq with the war on terrorism. IRAQ AND 9/11 HAS NO CONNECTION. why does that bug me so much? cuz so many people are all gung-ho for bush because they see the war on terrorism as a connection to 9/11. it's totally unrelated.
i was watching clips of the presidential debates a few days ago, and one of them showed bush's response to unemployment. wow, what a jackass. his answer to unemployment was education. managers, ceo's, people who went to college and graduate school.....they've all been laid off. this hits me close to home cuz my dad's been unemployed forever. and then there's bush shooting off bullcrap about education being the key to getting jobs. so what're you gonna do, go to school for five more years, and that'll stop companies from outsourcing? just cuz you have a masters from harvard doesn't mean the economy will suddenly turn upright again and there'll be jobs. man....this guy is our president. *shudders.*
now that im thinking about this.....bush shouldn't even have won the first time. recount my ass. the rest of the world didn't understand why gore didnt' win. the rest of the world didn't understand why there was a recount. i agree with the rest of the world.
this guy in my drama class pierced his own lip by himself on friday. he was taking out his lipring in class. kinda grossed me out.
in conclusion: go nader. (and if you were offended by this entry.....i DID warn you in the beginning).
