This past weekend has been absolutely freaking amazing. I don't remember the last time I had this much or was this relaxed. At the beginning of the week I was absolutely DREADING the week because I had a ridiculous amount of work. And I remember thinking, "how the heck am I going to get through this week." And every time I said that, Joe would always tell me, "you'll get through it, you'll be fine." And it's one of those things you just tell people to console them, so I didn't think much about it. And obviously I knew I was going to get through it because as much as it sucked I didn't expect to drop dead in the middle of the week. But I think I finished the week off pretty damn successfully (well only my semester gpa will tell me how right I am...), and oh man the relief I felt afterwards was amazing. It's like a giant weight was lifted off my shoulders. So what did I do this weekend?
Well Haverfest is basically a huge schoolwide, school-sponsored party. Everyone basically just chills outside the entire day, drinking, lying around, listening to bands, and playing games. I spent all of Saturday afternoon lying outside, occassionally playing in an obstacle course, jumping in the moon bounce, and playing cornhole. Cornhole is such a random game. If you've ever seen people play it looks like the dumbest thing ever, but it's much harder than it looks. Who knew beanbags and a piece of wood with a hole in it could be so fun? I also played laser tag inside a huge moon bounce inflatable type thing. Quite fun.
Friday night there were a bunch of bands...underground hip hop type music, which I'm totally not into but according to Jessie that night I said I loved them and said they were my favorite and that they were the best band I had ever heard...? I guess....
Last night was the dance, and I have to say my school got the BEST DJ ever...no joke. No exaggeration. My fingers type only the truth. Seriously. It was like 4 or 6 DJ's all working together and mixing at once, and they did a damn good job of it. They picked only the best parts of songs, songs were changed every minute or two so they didn't get boring, and all the songs flowed together really well. And they picked such a wide range of music: pop, hip hop, rap, rock, 80's, and just about everything else. And they made it so all the songs were creatively mixed and not completely random and undanceable. Oh goodness I can go on and on forever about how good they are. But I'll stop. I'll control myself.
But yes, it was simply splendid to completely relax and party this weekend. I gave people more hugs in these two days than I think I gave in the past year. It really was a very happy weekend =]. Downside: I have quite a few scrapes and bruises on me. I know how I got a couple of them but some I have no idea where they came from. And yeah it's kinda painful. But whatever, it was well worth it.
Cheers to Haverfest 2006 =]
